What drew me to apply for Girls Design the World was the name! A teacher provided me with information about GDW and I knew it would be something so empowering and unique that I had to be a part of it. I am really passionate about art and being able to express my thoughts and ideas through words and photography; I am also very interested in science. This program gives me the opportunity to combine both fields, ultimately creating something that solves community issues.

Girls Design the World has also given me many opportunities for growth. In working with our partners from Kenya, I have been able to explore cultural differences and figure out how communities across the world can come together to make a difference. By focusing on loss of pollinators, I have the chance to research and implement changes that might make a difference in the future of food production, restoration of habitat loss, and more. I am very excited to see what other opportunities this program holds for me, and can’t wait to use the skills I’ve developed through it; I plan to use them throughout my life.
