Hello! My name is Mai Chia. I am seventeen years old and I go to Patrick Henry High School. In my free time I love to cook and bake, write stories, and watch Netflix! I enjoy dancing, crafting, and playing with my younger siblings. My favorite subjects are science and art, because I never get bored in those classes. We do experiments in science that are really interesting, such as turning a copper penny into a gold penny, making flames out of soap and water, dissecting rats, and more. I like art class because I can be as creative as I want—it keeps the stress away.

I live in Minneapolis and I’ve seen all that we do to negatively affect the Mississippi River. My goal is to create awareness about—and encourage students to reduce—urban runoff. I joined Girls Design the World to work with twenty wonderful girls and share our brilliant ideas. As a female, I think myself and this group can make a powerful difference based on our thoughts, hopes, and dreams. We are young and courageous; we are just as strong as men. I look forward to meeting new friends, discovering new things, sharing ideas, and most of all, having fun!
