Faith: Dream of the People

By Faith, Nairobi

By Faith, Nairobi

My name is Faith, and I am 18 years old. I could talk, but my feelings are best expressed and understood in the poems where my heart is set.

Dream of the People

Behind the smiling faces,

Behind the true identity of Mukuru

Behind the true feeling of Reuben

Lay the bare truth of the dream of people.

Not just any people

But the people of Mukuru

Stood people filled with laughter

Laughter behind shattered dreams,

Laughter behind big dreams

In the plan of life,

They slept to hope for a best tomorrow

Destiny was not theirs,

But fate was permanent

But still background changeable

“They” lived a complicated life, I thought

With the hope of “one day”

With the hope of a new dream,

I guess life was what it was

But they had more than life,

In that heap of rubbish

Stood a little boy,

With the thought that

ONE DAY I LIVED IN MUKURU

ONE DAY LIFE WILL BE GOOD
